On January 9, 2014, Trustee and Deputy Mayor Michael Schenkler of the Village of Port Washington North announced that he has decided to retire from his positions. Trustee Schenkler has served the Village as a Trustee since February 2004. During a ceremony celebrating Schenkler’s service, Mayor Weitzner presented a proclamation declaring January 9th to be Michael Schenkler Day in the Village of Port Washington North. Mayor Weitzner then appointed Matthew Kepke to be sworn in as Trustee to fill the remainder of Mr. Schenkler’s term of office until March 2015. Mr. Kepke, an attorney and resident of the Village since 2005, has served as Communications Commissioner for the Village for the past year. Trustee Steven Cohen was appointed by Mayor Weitzner to serve as Deputy Mayor to fill out the remainder of Schenkler’s term as Deputy Mayor until April 2014.
