outstanding performance as Village Attorney. Stuart Besen has served as a trusted partner, providing
invaluable legal expertise and guidance to the Village. His efforts have ensured compliance with
regulations, supported careful planning, and contributed to the smooth operation of village
governance.
In addition to his contributions to Port Washington North, Stuart Besen has a distinguished career,
having served as Assistant Town Attorney for Huntington, Town of Smithtown Special Counsel, and
Suffolk County Legislative Counsel. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stuart’s commitment
to family and community continues to inspire many.

As Stuart Besen steps away from his role, the Village warmly welcomes Christopher Prior Partner of
Mclaughlin & Stern, LLP as the new Village Attorney. Christopher brings a wealth of legal expertise
and a commitment to maintaining the Village’s strong foundation. His role will include supporting
local projects, ensuring compliance, and guiding the Village’s legal matters with precision and care.
Fortunately, Christopher is not new to the Village, as he previously served as Legal Counsel to our
Planning & Zoning Boards.
