Shore Road Traffic Calming Project, Phase I The Village of Port Washington North is pleased to report that the Safer Shore Road For the Residents of Port Washington Peninsula Traffic Calming project, Phase I, funded largely by the 2003 LSSTC grant award of $280,200 is finalized, approved by the Board of Trustees, and is ready for construction this year. The major improvements that will be incorporated in this project include the following:
This is part of a major initiative to improve Shore Road and the adjacent waterfront parks; to allow vehicles and pedestrians to move safely along and across Shore Road. Shore Road Traffic Calming Phase II Grant Proposal The Village of Port Washington North is proud to present to you Phase II of our Safer Shore Road for the Resident of the Port Washington Peninsula project application for the New York State Dept. of Transportation Local Safe Streets and Traffic Calming program for 2006. We are excited to continue the good work we started in Phase I when we received the LSSTC grant award in 2003. We believe the proposal submitted will carry forward the unique ideas and innovative products that made our first grant so successful. We stated in our first grant application that if we were successful in receiving the funding to complete phase 1, we would continue with the design concepts heading north on Shore Road, ending at Cow Neck Road/Manorhaven Blvd. And that is exactly what we wish to do with this Phase II grant request The entire plan of proposed improvements for the 2006 LSSTC project can be seen by clicking on the logo of the plan below. The recommendations being made use various techniques and devices that have been researched and adopted in the construction plan of the 2003 LSSTC Shore Road Phase 1 project. These include crosswalk design, countdown signals, audible alerts, and distinctive striping. We now wish to implement these concepts at additional locations points north along and across Shore Road. 09-2006.
